About

Mark Jackson and/or Mark Rohtmaa-Jackson

Hello. I am the Director of LungA School / LungA Skólinn in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Before this, I was the Curator at IMT Gallery, London, UK (2005-2023) and Assistant Professor in Fine Art Critical Theory and Curatorial Practices at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (2014-2023) where I was Director of Gallery North (2015-2018), part of the curatorial art collective NEUSCHLOSS (with a whole bunch of artists, writers, curators and educators), and ran the Collaborative and Curatorial Practices research group. I am one half of Blue Mountain Arcturus (with Dr Allan Hughes) and have been the occasional member/vessel/vassal of Plastique Fantastique. I have a PhD from London College of Communication on the tape experiments of William S. Burroughs as a curatorial strategy in sound art, and I used to be a make-up artist for Olan Mills, Inc. I live here in Seyðisfjörður, and I recently wrote this book about curating.
